Lipari and Vulcano are two good-looking Aeolian Islands. Visit both of these in one day, and you've got yourself a handsome trip ahead. First, it's the pastel-coloured waterfront buildings of Lipari before sailing over to Vulcano for its smoking peaks. A two-in-one of Sicily's best.
It's an early morning start as you cast off to the largest of the UNESCO-listed Aeolian Islands, Lipari. As one of the oldest settlements in Europe, there's plenty to explore here. You'll have free time to see the top-notch museum, as well as its pleasant waterfront and historic citadel.
Then, you'll glide over to the island of Vulcano, whose volcanic origins are clear to see – you'll soon spot fumes spouting from its crater. But you'll be here to take things easy. Find a spot for yourself on the black sand beach, spread out your towel here and enjoy a few hours topping up your tan before boarding the boat back.
