Desvela con un arqueólogo los secretos de los guanches, la extinta población aborigen de Gran Canaria, en este National Geographic Day Tour. Comienza la visita en el Museo de La Fortaleza, aprenderás sobre las dietas ancentrales para conocer los alimentos que le daban energía a las antiguas generaciones. También tendrás acceso a la sala de archivos, exclusivo para los viajeros de National Geographic. En su interior, un par de momias raras te revelarán historias sobre la vida y la muerte de los habitantes originales de la isla. A continuación, explorarás el yacimiento arqueológico de La Fortaleza, el más completo de toda Gran Canaria. Protegido por ley, es importante tanto por su significado histórico como por su ubicación. Contempla cuevas habitadas adornadas con pinturas, graneros, casas de piedra, monumentos funerarios, grabados y el santuario más antiguo de la isla. Conoce por qué los guanches se referían a ella como el «eje del mundo», el lugar donde convergían el cielo y la tierra.

Serás testigo de la antigua forma de vida en La Fortaleza mientras descubres el túnel que atraviesa la roca y que ofrece una panorámica de La Fortaleza de Abajo. Este extenso asentamiento de casas excavadas se encuentra a tiro de piedra.
