A tribute to a darker part of history, York Dungeon breathes life into the city’s gruesome past. Heart-thumping live shows and spine-chilling exhibits showcase over 2000 years of history and you’ll even meet some famous faces along the way – all with their own tales of terror to share. Come face to face with Viking Jorvik, Dick Turpin, city ghosts and witches. The one and only Guy Fawkes also makes an appearance. He’ll tell you all about the infamous plot to blow up parliament.
The Plague Doctor awaits with his tales of disease and despair that once gripped the city – be prepared to laugh at one of the funniest shows of the dungeon. A highlight of the dungeon is the Torture Chamber. In this interactive show, you’ll be introduced to bone-chilling devices – the Torturer loves asking questions to his audience. Get ready to practice your boos and cheers for the Executioner too. The memories of the Dungeon’s grisly tales will linger long after you’ve left its haunting walls.
