Het verhaal
De Boboli-tuinen kunnen worden beschouwd als een openluchtmuseum met een grote collectie sculpturen uit de 16e en 18e eeuw, met enkele Romeinse oudheden.
De tuinen - enkele van de eerste en meest beroemde 16e-eeuwse Italiaanse tuinen - werden ontworpen zodra de hertogen van de Medici van Toscane het Pitti-paleis in 1550 kochten. Ze zijn gelegen op de spectaculaire locatie van de Boboli-heuvel, net achter het paleis. De architect Giorgio Vasari leverde zijn bijdrage bij het plannen en aanleggen van de grotten, terwijl Buontalenti de prachtige Grote Grot voltooide, intern en extern versierd met stalactieten, beelden en vegetatie.
