Het verhaal
Het Museu Nacional dos Coches (het Nationaal Koetsmuseum) is gelegen op het Afonso de Albuquerque-plein in de wijk Belém in Lissabon.
Het museum, gehuisvest in een voormalige manege, werd op 23 mei 1905 ingehuldigd door koningin Amélia van Orléans en Bragança, de prinses van Frankrijk die getrouwd was met koning Carlos I van Portugal. De primaire functie was om de belangrijke collectie voertuigen van het Koninklijk Huis uit de 17e, 18e en 19e eeuw te behouden. De huidige collectie bestaat uit rijtuigen, berlins, draagstoelen, en koetsen - de een nog rijker gedecoreerd dan de ander!
