Het verhaal
Het Kennedy Space Center, vernoemd naar president John F. Kennedy, is een van de tien centra van de National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in de Verenigde Staten die in 1958 werden geopend.
Sinds eind jaren zestig diende het als Amerikaanse spaceport en speelde het space center een cruciale rol rol bij de missie in 1969 om de eerste mens, Neil Armstrong, op de maan te laten landen. Vanaf toen is bij elke Amerikaanse bemande ruimtemissie het Kennedy Space Center als lanceerbasis gebruikt.
