Alfama District takes you on a journey through Lisbon’s rich past, which dates back to the Iron Age. Over time, it has been inhabited by various cultures such as the Romans, Visigoths and other Germanic tribes. Eventually, it became the heart of Moorish Lisbon, leaving a lasting impression on the neighbourhood’s identity and architecture.
