The inside story
De thuisbasis van de meest traditionele voetbalclub van Portugal is echt een must voor sportfans. Het Estádio da Luz – het ‘stadion van het licht’ – was het toneel van een paar van de grootste successen van Benfica Lissabon. Sinds de volledige verbouwing in 2003 is het één van de modernste stadions van Europa. Deze arena was onder andere de locatie voor de finales van het Europees kampioenschap en de Champions League. Ongeveer tien jaar later kwam er een museum bij dat de succesvolle geschiedenis van Benfica in beeld brengt - de club met de meeste Portugese kampioenschappen en bekerzeges. Benfica was ook het eerste Portugese team dat de Europa Cup won – onder leiding van de legendarische Eusébio, de ‘Zwarte Panter’. Stadium tours zijn natuurlijk beschikbaar.
