Niagara Falls tickets and tours

Niagara Falls, one of the world's most popular tourist attractions, is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It consists of three waterfalls: Horseshoe Falls (or Canadian Falls) being the largest, followed by American Falls and lastly Bridal Veil Falls. Located on the border of the United States and Canada, Niagara Falls attracts around 30 million visitors yearly and dates back 12,000 years.

There are numerous boat excursions and sightseeing tours that you can do when visiting Niagara Falls. The oldest and most well-known attractions are the boat cruises that bring you into the rapids of the Niagara River just in front of the falls. The Maid of The Mist operates from the American side and the Hornblower Cruises from the Canadian side. Make sure to bring an extra change of clothes as you're guaranteed to get soaked!

If you're looking to do something more relaxing, you can visit the Skylon Tower and head up to its observation deck. This will allow you to get the highest views of the falls as well as being able to see Toronto in the opposite direction. Otherwise, you can hike one of the trails located in Niagara Falls State Park, the oldest state park in the United States, and get up close to the falls.

It became popular in the twentieth century for adventurers to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel. The first was Annie Edson Taylor in 1901, sealed within a wooden barrel pumped full of air. She survived. Englishman Charles Stephens was less lucky in 1920. He tied his arm to an anvil inside the barrel for extra security. After his fall, they found the arm, the barrel and the anvil – but not the rest of Charles.

Within walking distance to the falls on the Canada side, you will find a street full of restaurants, gift shops and other attractions that are worth passing by during your visit. If you happen to be feeling lucky, head over to one of the two casinos nearby and try your luck!
