Upon arrival at the centre of the local operator, you will receive rubber boots and rain clothes if necessary. Your guide will then take you and some of our energetic huskies out on a hike through the arctic wilderness surrounding the centre. Usually, not each guest gets an own dog assigned, as the dogs are strong and trained to pull – most guests are happy to rotate handling them. Be prepared for some exercise.
After a 1.5 – 2 hours hike, a warm lunch will be served in the traditional Gamme-hut to restore your strength. A hot portion of Bacalao, a traditional Norwegian fish dish made from locally sourced ingredients, and a piece of our signature chocolate cake for dessert. A vegetarian option is available upon preliminary request.
After lunch, your guide will give you a tour of the dog yard and tell you all about the centre, the life with the dogs, and dog sled racing. Of course, you will also have the opportunity to cuddle and play with the puppies.
