The inside story
The Carnival of Venice is one of the most appreciated costume parties of the world, as well as one of those with the most ancient origins, which dates back to the Middle Ages. In addition to being an event of the tradition of the "Serenissima", the modern Carnival every year attracts large numbers of tourists, who compete to buy tickets to watch the shows of the Grand Theatre of Piazza San Marco. Around the square are held great historical and artistic exclusive events, where elegance and style are melted in the transgression.
One of the most awaited events is definitely the famous Angel Flight, which takes place at the stroke of midday on the first Sunday of celebration and decreed the official start of the Carnival: a secret guest takes bravely flight from the Bell Tower and halfway throws confetti and other small gifts on the crowd. Other important events are the historic parade of the Doge, the arrival of the procession of the Feast of Marie and the Dance of the Serenissima.
