The inside story
For all film and cinema lovers, the EYE Filmmuseum is a must-see when in Amsterdam!
Located on Amsterdam’s waterfront, the unique design of the EYE was designed by the Viennese architectural firm Delugan Meissl and is bound to excite you.
Inside there are four floors with a variety of things to do and see including exhibits about different film genres, effects, actors and so much more. There are also presentations and interactive replicas of film devices. You can even learn about optical tricks that make the magic of film possible!
The permanent exhibition showcasing the history of cinema can be found in the basement. From the very first silent movies and all other genres to follow, the museum has it all, and expands its collection each year! You can even test your knowledge with a multimedia cinema quiz.
Inside the museum, there are four cinemas showing classic films, so be sure to check one out if you want a blast from the past!
The museum also has a waterfront restaurant and souvenir shop with film memorabilia and DVDs if you want to take something home after a great day out. Get ready to immerse yourselves in to the world of film.
