What to expect

Uncover the darker side of Cologne’s history on this half-day walking tour, which includes admission to EL-DE Haus – one-time HQ of the brutalist Gestapo forces of Nazi Germany. In the basement of this unassuming building you’ll see sombre inscriptions on the walls of the prison cells and former torture rooms used by the Gestapo. The upper floors are home to documents and artefacts from the same period, including interviews with survivors and lists of organisations to be outlawed. On this guided tour, you’ll have the chance to honour the legacy of those lost, while learning more about this chapter of German history. You’ll also get to explore the old town along with a guide, picking out historic sites to help you piece together the past.
