The inside story
Located on the northern Main riverbank, the Old Town of Frankfurt used to be Germany’s largest timber-framed old town. After being destroyed during World War II, the district between the Römerberg and Cathedral Square was recently reconstructed to match its past magnificence.
Römerberg is one of the most popular squares in Frankfurt, which is always crowded with tourists from all over the world. In addition to cafes, restaurants, and the typical souvenir stores, here you will find some of the most important sights of the city, such as the Römer, which has been the city hall of Frankfurt am Main since the 15th century, or the early Gothic Alte Nikolaikirche.
