The inside story
The ancient Roman city of Itálica dates back to 206 BCE and boasts an impressive Roman ampitheater surrounded by the remains of houses and public buildings that let visitors relive the past and imagine the everyday lives of its former inhabitants. The renowned emperors Trajan and Hadrian were both born in Itálica, making it an especially important Roman city. These monumental remains, discovered in 1751 and excavated ever since, were declared an Archaeological Site by the Andalusian Government in 1989.
