This 2-day adventure begins early in the morning in Tel Aviv, as we travel east toward the King Hussein (Allenby) Bridge to cross into Jordan. After completing border formalities, we continue through the breathtaking desert landscapes and rugged hills, before reaching the ancient land of the Nabataeans.
We stop midday to enjoy lunch boxes from a local restaurant, then continue to Petra—one of the Seven Wonders of the World and Jordan’s most treasured site. Entering through the narrow canyon known as the Siq, we emerge before the magnificent Treasury, carved into the rose-red cliffs more than two thousand years ago. With our guide, we explore Petra’s highlights, including the Amphitheater, Royal Tombs, and Street of Facades, uncovering the stories of this once-lost city. You’ll also have time to explore at your own pace, soaking in the beauty of the red rock surroundings.
In the evening, we arrive at a nearby Bedouin campsite and are greeted with warm Bedouin hospitality. Enjoy a traditional dinner, relax by the fire under the star-filled sky, sip sweet Bedouin tea, and rest for the night in a comfortable tent.
At dawn, after an early breakfast, we head to Madaba, the “City of Mosaics,” home to the ancient map of the Holy Land. We then continue to Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have viewed the Promised Land. After lunch at a local restaurant, we return to the Allenby Bridge, cross into Israel, and make our way back through Jerusalem, arriving in Tel Aviv in the afternoon.
