Catalonia's holiest site, Montserrat whisks you back in time to the 11th century. You'll catch the train up to the monastery – at more than 1,200 metres above sea level – to explore its interior and enjoy an interactive exhibition. What's more, you'll have the option to head up the mountain summit by funicular for sweeping views across the Llobregat valley.
Perched high in the mountains to north of Barcelona, the Montserrat Abbey is perched among a jagged range of peaks. As you climb up, you'll admire panoramic views across the valleys. Your guide will then take you inside the monastery to see its grand interior, impressive artworks, architecture and the Black Madonna so revered by Catalan Catholics.
As you wander around, you'll be able to sample the herb liqueur made by the monks and watch the new interactive exhibition. Afterwards, you'll have the choice to buy tickets for the funicular train up to the summit where the view is simply breathtaking.
