Every September, the town of Teror comes alive for one of Gran Canaria's biggest and most-loved celebrations – the Romería del Pino. This is your chance to see Teror at its most vibrant, as thousands of locals gather to honour the island's patron saint, Our Lady of the Pine.
The streets fill with the sounds of folk bands, traditional dancing and lively parades. Groups from across the Canary Islands make their way through town dressed in traditional Canarian outfits, from embroidered skirts and shawls to waistcoats, hats and bright sashes, while decorated carts piled high with local produce and gifts form part of the procession.
You'll have time to wander around, browse market stalls and try regional classics like chorizo de Teror, local cheeses and sweet pastries, all while soaking up traditions that have been part of Canarian life for centuries. Getting there and back is taken care of, leaving you free to enjoy the sights, sounds and flavours of one of Gran Canaria's most cherished traditions.
