Looking to really turn up the volume on your Lanzarote getaway with a night of dancing and mingling with the locals? You won't want to miss La Noche Blanca, an event in Teguise – Lanzarote's former capital – that only takes place once a year. Patricia, one of our expert local guides, says, 'think of it as a mini festival, complete with lots of live music, street performers and art pieces. The White Night at Teguise is always buzzing, an absolute delight. You can get in the festival spirit by wearing white, too. '
You'll be picked up at your hotel by your escort and driven to the event, which is all about showing off Lanzarote's art scene and culture. During your visit, you'll be able to dance along to all kinds of music, including traditional folk tunes and live DJ sets. Street performers turn out in force for this once-a-year party, as well, so expect lots of magicians, acrobats and dancers to show off their skills.
Art fans are in for a treat at La Noche Blanca. The village is transformed into an open-air gallery, and many shops stay open until late during the gathering, so you'll have loads of time to explore all the different exhibits – there's a big focus on showcasing work by local talent here. Patricia adds, 'the vibrant energy of the event is palpable, the streets of Teguise transform into a lively festival ground, twinkling with lights everywhere and filled with the sounds of live music echoing through the night.'
