When Michael relocates to California with his younger brother Sam and their mother Lucy, he's eager to shed his old life and start anew. A wild night out on the boardwalk leads him into the shadows of Santa Carla, where he encounters David, the charismatic leader of a local rock band. David and his bandmates offer Michael liberation, excitement, and the sense of belonging he's been seeking. However, when the band's ominous secret is revealed, Michael is faced with a decision about how far he's willing to go to fit in.
